St. Joseph's Church
Father Francisco de Silva Pinto Maia founded the Portuguese Mission and started a small chapel on the site of the present
St. Joseph's Church.
The chapel was demolished in 1906 and construction of a new church began.
Opened in 1912, the new church was designed in the form of a Latin cross and could hold 1,500 parishioners.
St. Joseph's Church was gazetted as a national monument in 2005.
Please be advised to dress modestly if you are visiting this place of worship.
