Temple upgrading commenced in 1926 and by 1929, the concrete building was completed. The temple was damaged by a bomb during World War II and restoration works were carried out. As the temple started falling into disrepair, the decision to rebuild was made. The new temple has features from the ancient Chola temple style of architecture. Consecrated in 2003, Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple has been marked as a historic site by the National Heritage Board. Please be advised to dress modestly if you are visiting this place of worship.
