Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple
Located at Race Course Road, Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple is also known as the Temple of a Thousand Lights.
The temple features a 15-metre tall statue of Sakya Muni Buddha, the largest indoor seated Buddha statue in Singapore.
The 300-ton statue is surrounded by a chain of 989 lights which gave rise to the temple's nickname.
When lit, the Buddha statue appears to have a halo. The temple was founded in 1927 and was a place of refuge for many during
the Japanese Occupation.
Please be advised to dress modestly if you are visiting this place of worship.
