Hajjah Fatimah Mosque

Named after a wealthy Malay businesswoman, Hajjah Fatimah Mosque was built in 1846.

Hajjah Fatimah's house had been burgled many times and set on fire.

Relieved to be unharmed, the businesswoman decided to build a mosque on the site of her residence to show her gratitude.

The mosque design is British but has traces of Chinese, European and Moorish architectural styles.

Hajjah Fatimah Mosque was gazetted as a national monument on 6 July 1973.

Please be advised to dress modestly if you are visiting this place of worship. No sleeveless tops, shorts or short skirts.
