St. John's Island
Previously known as Pulau Sakijang Bendera, St. John's Island is located about 6.5km from the main island of Singapore.
The southern island used to house a quarantine hospital for leprosy cases and a penal settlement for political prisoners
and secret society leaders.
The hilly island spots white sandy beaches, swimming lagoons, coral reefs with hard and soft corals, picnic grounds
and trekking routes. There are also holiday bungalows which are equipped with basic cooking facilities for rental.
This makes St. John's Island the perfect idyllic weekend getaway destination.
The Tropical Marine Science Institute and Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore's Marine Aquaculture Centre
are also located on the island.
