Sentosa
Sentosa is one of the most popular attractions in Singapore.
The idyllic resort island, located just off the southern coast, is a hit with both tourists and locals and
attracts more than five million visitors a year.
Sentosa was previously known as Pulau Belakang Mati which means "Island After Death" and used as a military
base by the British.
A decision was made in 1970 to transform it into a recreational island.
Singapore Tourism Board held a contest and invited the public to come up with a new name for the island. Sentosa which
means "peace and tranquillity" in Malay was chosen and the island was renamed in 1972.
The list of activities you can do on the island is endless! For a start, explore various attractions such as the
Imbiah Lookout, Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom, Fort Siloso Tours, Sky Tower, Underwater World and many more.
Get in touch with nature by walking the Nature Walk/Dragon Trail. Detour to the summit of Mount Imbiah and
enjoy the scenic sea view from the lookout point.
Relax and enjoy the sun, sand and sea at any of the three beaches - Palawan Beach, Siloso Beach and Tanjong Beach.
Work up a sweat playing beach volleyball or canoeing at Siloso Beach.
Indulge yourself in a pampering spa experience at the Health Club and Spa and Spa Botanica. Dip your feet into a warm
pool and let the small Turkish spa fish nibble gently on your feet for smoother and healthier skin at the Foot Reflexology,
Underwater World.
End your day with a bang at the Songs of the Sea. The show is bound to mesmerise you with its live cast, pyrotechnics,
laser lights and water jets.
