Clarke Quay

Located further upstream from Boat Quay is Clarke Quay.

Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore's second governor and governor of the Straits Settlements, the history of Clarke Quay shares many similarities with that of Boat Quay.

Like Boat Quay, Clarke Quay too bustled with trading activity during the 19th century.

The river was swollen with bumboats and barge lighters bringing produce and goods to be stored in the numerous warehouses that lined Clarke Quay. However, by the latter half of the 20th century, the government had relocated cargo services to Pasir Panjang.

Today, the warehouses along the river have been conserved and transformed into an entertainment and dining district. The area's antique shops and flea markets offer an alternative to shoppers looking for more off-beat purchases.

If you prefer something that gives you a rush of adrenaline, check out the G-MAX Ultimate Bungy located just next to the Coleman Bridge. The 5-minute ride will send you catapulting up to a height of 60m in the air at speeds of up to 200kph. An exhilarating and thrilling ride indeed!

When the sun sets, enjoy a romantic dinner at any of the alfresco restaurants and watch the twinkling lights of the city reflected in the river.

Clarke Quay is a very presentable place to bring clients or guest for entertainment.

It has good ambiance isn't as rowdy as Boat Quay.
