Singapore Turf Club
It was founded as the Singapore Sporting Club on the 4th of October 1842 by Scottish merchant William Henry Macleod Read. Formed by a group of racing enthusiasts, the club was originally known as the Singapore Sporting Club. The club was renamed to Singapore Turf Club in 1924 to better reflect its role.
