Singapore Turf Club
The Singapore Turf Club is the oldest existing club in Singapore, famous for horse-racing.
It was founded as the Singapore Sporting Club on the 4th of October 1842 by Scottish merchant William Henry Macleod Read.
Formed by a group of racing enthusiasts, the club was originally known as the Singapore Sporting Club.
The club was renamed to Singapore Turf Club in 1924 to better reflect its role. It moved to the present Kranji premises in 1999.
