Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer is the latest attraction to hit Singapore.

Officially opened to the public on 1 March 2008, the giant observation wheel located at Marina Bay offers stunning panoramic views of Singapore.

Standing at an impressive height of 165 metres (which is about 42 stories high), the Singapore Flyer exceeds the iconic London Eye by a whopping 30 metres.

The giant observation wheel has 28 air-conditioned capsules which can hold up to 28 passengers each. One complete rotation takes approximately 30 minutes.

Designed by Japanese architect Dr. Kisho Kurokawa and DP Architects, the Singapore Flyer was inspired by icons such as the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye.

The giant observation wheel not only offers a spectacular view of the tropical island, it also allows you to see as far as Johor, Malaysia and the Indonesia islands of Batam and Bintan in the other direction.

The Singapore Flyer is also available for private and corporate bookings.

Good to try it at least once. I went up the Singapore Flyer twice. Once in the day and another in the night. Well, it is more fun in the day time but definitely more romantic in the night. Of course provided they don't squeeze too many people with you.
