Civil Defence Heritage Gallery
The Civil Defence Heritage Gallery is housed in the oldest existing fire station in Singapore - Central Fire Station.
The striking red-and-white-striped colonial style building with a watch tower was built in 1908 at the cost of SGD 64,000
and gazetted as a national monument in 1998.
Set up to showcase the Singapore Civil Defence Force's (SCDF) long and illustrious history, the gallery also aims to
increase public awareness of civil defence.
Through the interactive displays, you can see how fire fighting and civil defence in Singapore have developed since
the late 19th century to the present days.
Learn about the major fires that have occurred in Singapore in the past and pick up some fire safety skills.
Many of the antiquated fire engines and fire fighting equipment are also on display and it is interesting to see how they have evolved through the years.
Grab the chance to tour the 30-metre hose tower of the Central Fire Station which was Singapore's highest point in the
1920s and remember to pick up a keepsake from the souvenir shop before you leave.
