Bukit Batok Nature Park
The area that Bukit Batok Nature Park is located used to be a quarry site.
Having since been abandoned, the site was developed into a nature park in 1988.
At least half of the 36-hectare park comprises of young secondary forest.
An abundance of local wildlife calls the park home. The park also has many winding footpaths that lead to
scenic look-out points overlooking the picturesque quarry lake.
World War II history buffs will be interested to know that the Japanese built a shrine at the top of
Bukit Batok (where Mediacorp's transmission towers now stand) in memory of their fallen soldiers.
However, all that remains of the memorial are two pillars and 120 concrete steps leading up to the towers.
