Army Museum of Singapore
Newly opened in 2007, the Army Museum of Singapore was built to preserve the heritage of the Singapore Army and as a
tribute to Singaporeans who have served or are serving National Service (NS).
The museum is housed in a newly built three-storey building designed to suggest the continuous growth of the army. Its six
galleries take visitors through the development of the army from its formative years to the present. Through the collections
of mementos belonging to ex-NS men and even a mock-up of a 1970s training bunk, visitors learn about these men's experiences
and the making of a citizen solder.
The museum theatre also screens two multimedia shows - "Our Army Now" and "A Day in the Life…". These shows include special
effects to present to the visitors our army's capabilities as well as provide an insight into the day to day activities of a
soldier.
An interesting feature of the museum is the electronic rifle range where visitors can get a feel of what it is like to shoot
using the different weapons (M16, SAR 21, Ultimax SAW and M203) used by the army.
Outside the museum, there are also various army vehicles on display. There is also a children's adventure park that features
a scaled down version of the Standard Obstacle Course in the army.
